North Korea is a state in East Asia in the northern half of the Korean Peninsula. The full name of the country is the ‘Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The capital and largest city is Pyongyang. It had formed the Korean Empire with South Korea before its occupation and division following the Second World War. Now they are separated by the Korean Demilitarized Zone. China and Russia also form borders of North Korea. The most important peculiarity of the country is that it is a one party state. The ideology of governance had been developed by the country’s former leader Kim Il-sung. The present leader is his son, Kim Jong-Il. It has strong relations with socialist states.
